[English: Official Statement By AirAsia Saiyan]
We apologize to our supporters and Malaysians.
We from AirAsia Saiyan are unanimously withdrawing from MSC 2018 on protests to the organizer RevivalTV after they have withdrawn their decision to give the semi-final slot to ASYN. RevivalTV instructed us to play a new BO1 match with Aerowolf for the semi-finals slot.
We firmly believe that the MSC2018 semi-final slot is ours based on the contract signed between AirAsia Saiyan and RevivalTV on July 24, 2018. We reject the organizer’s decision to rematch in honor of our ASYN team.
As it happened on the first day, our request for rematch was rejected after Aerowolf disagreed.
We feel that in this case, we have the right to reject a rematch for the semi-final slot.
Here’s a chronology of events:
9PM: ASYN wins the match against Team Digital Devil and deserves to go to the semi-finals based on “Kill Difference”
11PM: The organizers announced to ASYN, AERO, and RevivalTV that we have qualified for the semi-finals.
1AM: The organizer (RevivalTV) along with Moonton and Aerowolf comes to our hotel lobby to discuss the case and its details can be found below:
The organizers explained that the Aerowolf team signed a different contract from us on July 3, 2018 during the MSC 2018 press conference.
The Aerowolf contract is in Indonesian language and they also show a new competition rule book signed by Aerowolf and RevivalTV.
Thus, there are two different contracts between the teams involved with the MSC 2018 competition, and after a two-hour discussion, the proposal to solve the problem is to have a Best-of-1 match between ASYN and AERO for the semi-final slot, and if we reject the proposal, we will be disqualified from MSC 2018.
We feel this is an unjust decision as the mistake of the RevivalTV should not affect the integrity of the competition, especially when the announcement to all parties was decided at 11PM yesterday.
As Malaysia’s representative in the MSC, we believe that competition integrity is crucial for the development of esports in Southeast Asia, and it is not something that we can tolerate twice, in the two days of the MSC competition.
Therefore, unanimously, we, ASYN decided to withdraw from MSC 2018. In addition, we will also take legal action against RevivalTV because of our contract signed between ASYN and RevivalTV.
We are disappointed, but we believe that this is the right decision for the future development of esports. Again, we would like to apologize to ASYN supporters as well as Malaysians for failing to raise the Malaysian flag on the third day of MSC 2018.
Finally, we would like to wish a happy start to the Aerowolf team in the MSC semi-finals.
